Many years ago the “Lenin was a mushroom” concept had me, together with the rest of the nation (“there, where my nation, alas! was”), in stitches. Later on I meticulously studied (that’s precisely the word -- studied) every bit of video and audio recordings of Sergey Kuryokhin’s “Pop-Mekhanika” available at the time. To this day I consider him an unparalleled musical phenomenon merging pop and classical genres whose sheer talent and cultural impact will likely remain unmatched in the foreseeable future.
Then I memorized “Sparrow Oratorium” and often fantasized imagining myself among the celestials who were making this happen.
Years of self-searching followed.
Next came months of the pandemic spent working with a notation editor.
And finally we are presenting the Sergey Kuryokhin album “Four Seasons” from his “Sparrow Oratorium” arranged by me personally and performed by an absolute genius of a team.
Something like this.
